It’s been 3 years since the last season of the hit Netflix series released. Now, Stranger Things Season 5 is gearing up to be the grand finale of the show and with a new trailer, some fans believe they’ve figured out who is going to be the big boss that the Hawkins gang will face.
Stranger Things Season 5: Fans Spot Clues About Potential End Boss
The trailer to Stranger Things Season 5 was released on October 30, 2025, just ahead of the release of the first episode. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to analyze every frame to find clues about the season and what could go down. Some believe that the final boss behind everything is a D&D character.
In the trailer, the gang is talking about taking down Vecna, with their D&D map and figures in front of them and one specific figure seems to have gotten the attention of viewers – the Thessalhydra. If anyone remembers the end of the first season, then the same monster appeared in their campaign, with Will defeating it with a fireball. Was this all foreshadowing for what is to come in Season 5?
On social media site X, user @alythrae_ made the discovery, believing that the final frontier is going to be none other than that specific hydra monster. “LOOK AT THE TABLE!! We have our DND figures of the party and a suspiciously familiar dragon figure in the middle… We really ARE fighting the thessalhydra this season,” they wrote. The beast was also alluded to in previous seasons with Will’s drawn picture.

In the trailer, Dustin, one of the main characters is seen beaten and bruised and also crying, which has some fans scared that there might be a big death coming up in the series, as reported by Radio Times. It’s clear that Will is the character to look out for, so fans wonder who could be the one character that the show runners are willing to kill off.
