Recently, it was revealed that a potential Kylo Ren movie was in the works. Unfortunately, the new Star Wars saga was shot down by Disney executives, but it seems that fans want this project to move forward. Now they’re putting pressure on Disney to make it happen.

Star Wars: Fans Want to Save new Movie Project

Just recently, Adam Driver, the actor behind Kylo Ren, told the Associated Press, that a script for a movie about Kylo Ren was ready. The actor called the script, “one of the coolest [he’d] ever been a part of”. While executives at Lucasfilm loved it, Disney wasn’t convinced and the movie, The Hunt for Ben Solo, was shelved.

With this reveal, fans were immediately up in arms and wanted Disney to rethink their decision. On October 23, 2025, a plane with the banner “Save the Hunt for Ben Solo” was flown over Disney Studios, as reported by Collider. Online, fans are also mourning the loss of what could have been a great movie with one Redditor writing, “Disney got a great deal handed to them on a silver platter […] Seeing “Soderbergh” in the same sentence as “Star Wars” was the first time the franchise piqued my interest in at least a decade.” Fans are hopeful though that with Drivers’ reveal, the movie could still have potential.

Other Fan Projects Have Led to Movie Reveals

Fan outcry has led to studios giving them what they want. For example, a similar campaign to release Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut was victorious. With the hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut trending, Warner Bros. ended up releasing the 4-hour cut onto HBO Max. Similarly, in 2014 a test cut of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool was leaked onto the internet, prompting fans to rally together to demand the project become a reality, even after 20th Century Fox had already rejected it.

So, there is still hope for Star Wars fans. If there is enough push, then Disney could potentially change their mind. It’s not uncommon for cool and beloved characters to make a return in the franchise, so it’s not unimaginable to have Kylo Ren make a return as well.
