Have you ever been on a call in your car using Android Auto, only for it to randomly cut out whilst driving? Well, many have, and it’s quite annoying to have the phone disconnect the call from the vehicle app for no apparent reason. Thankfully, one small fix could help rectify the situation.
Android Auto: Calls Cutting Out Due to This Reason
These days phones, whether a Samsung or a Pixel, have built-in battery saving options. Some of these are quite aggressive, which is where the problem comes in for Android Auto users. According to Android Police, phones will continuously monitor which apps are using the most power in the background and shutting down those that are using too much.
Therein lies the problem. Because Android Auto has to constantly be connected, running in the background, your phone might misinterpret this and shut it down. So, that means your call will be cut off or dropped because of your own cellular device, or maybe your music will stutter instead of continuing to play smoothly.

Solutions to Fix Issue
Thankfully, there are some easy fixes to this issue and should ensure your drive to be smooth sailing in the future with as many undisturbed phone calls as you like. The way to fix it will differentiate between Pixel phones and Samsung phones, so be aware that there are different steps to take.
Samsung Phone users should open their Settings app, then move to the Apps section, where they’ll look for Android Auto. Once there, you simply have to choose the Unrestricted option under Battery. Those who use a Google Pixel or another Android phone should also go to their settings and look for the Android Auto App under Apps. Finally, you have to change the selection from Optimized to Unrestricted.
Be sure to check back to the settings after any system update, since sometimes the phone will automatically go back to its optimized status afterward. Other than that, these changes to your phone should give Android Auto all the power it needs to continuously run smoothly.
