Why Is Samsung Betting Big on Foldables Again?

Foldable phones once felt like a gimmick — but Samsung is doubling down. The Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip are slimmer, more durable, and packed with serious hardware. Samsung’s big idea? That multitasking and compact design can actually coexist. Paired with Android 14, the foldables now support better split-screen features and app continuity. Battery life has improved, and the crease is barely noticeable. Plus, AI integration is making these devices feel futuristic. While some still hesitate at the price, Samsung sees foldables as more than a trend. It’s not just about the wow factor — it’s about redefining the phone.

A new One UI 8.5 firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra has been found online. Users can look forward to some new AI-powered features. One of those is a feature that should help summarize notifications.

One UI 8.5: Notification Summary in the Works

Apple had previously tried to create an AI-powered tool which could summarize notifications. Unfortunately, it didn’t pan out as the company had hoped and received massive backlash, as Android Authority reported then. Now, Samsung is adding a similar feature with One UI 8.5. Hopefully they do it better.

Sam Mobile revealed that the notification summary is part of the update, but currently doesn’t work. While it isn’t currently available, it is a clear sign that the Korean company is creating a tool to make long notifications easier to read. According to them, when you pull down the notification panel, there is a pop-up visible which explains the feature.

Choose What You Don’t Want Summarized

In the Settings menu, you’ll be able to choose which apps you want excluded from the feature. Currently, it seems like every app is included, and you’ll have to manually opt out, if you don’t want certain notifications to be shortened. This, obviously, can still change until the feature is added to your phone.

The One UI 8.5 notification summary feature will be powered by Google’s AI model. According to Samsung, the information retained by the feature will not be sent to Google. For now, we have to be patient until the update rolls out to see the fully functional summarize tool.
